A National Historical Landmark

Philippine Columbian was conferred in 1960 a Historical Marker by the Philippine Historical Commission (the National Historical Commission of the Philippines or NHCP today).

According to the criteria and policies prescribed by the NHCP, Markers shall be installed for Filipino heroes, historic events and places involving historical acts and patriotic endeavors to dramatize the need to focus on the national consciousness, the history of our country from the Filipino viewpoint and to evoke pride in our national heritage and identity.

Prior to a grant of a historical marker, NHCP undertakes a meticulous, proper and thorough study of the possible recipient. Historical markers shall only be installed in places with great historical value as determined by the NHCP Board.

Given the strict criteria before an organization is given such title, it only proves the significant contributions of the Philippine Columbian to the Philippine society- be it in sports, social and cultural facets spanning one hundred and fourteen years.

Philippine Columbian is a sports and cultural heritage. We take pride that PCA was only at 53 years when it was awarded the historical marker in 1960, a feat that only PCA as a sports membership club has attained; and the only sports club in the country to have ever been bestowed such honor.

"Sanctuary of Filipino Nationalism"

The wall-mounted plaque at the main entrance of the Club symbolizes the official turnover of the Club’s Php 35 million-worth property in Plaza Dilao, Paco, Manila by Permaline, Inc. to the Philippine Columbian Association. This was held in simple ceremonies on May 22, 1980.

This giant plaque was turned over by Permaline Inc. President Henry Yang to Philippine Columbian President Ponciano ‘Pons’ Marquez, at the Quezon Hall which was attended by a large crowd of Columbianos. The celebration was held with live band, dance music, and sumptuous food.

The facilities developed given to PCA include: main clubhouse that has social hall, main dining room, six function rooms, cocktail lounge, main kitchen with cold storage and refrigeration facilities, Board room, the library; men’s and women’s locker rooms, saunas, gym, administrative offices, cafeteria, bar, bowling center with 12 lanes, automatic pin setters and billiards table, sports pavilion for badminton, table tennis and the coveted four covered tennis courts with the center court at 1,000 seating capacity and one concrete court.
